I love to make things
I am interested in designing and building furniture and other things blending form and function. These have ranged from dining tables and chairs, buffets, fly-fishing landing nets, and sofas to custom tools, a bumper for a Jeep and most recently, a wood fired pizza oven utilizing bricks from the 1850s.
I especially like mixing wood and metal in my pieces. Wood gives a piece warmth, it can be smooth, rough, sculpted and shaped into pleasing and sometimes challenging forms. Working with wood is always a reductive process - cutting and shaping. Metal can be the opposite of wood, but in its' cold strength can serve as a frame and structure in ways wood is typically not asked to do. Working with metal can be a reductive or an additive process - the coalescence of molten metal to form a weld is additive in way that is impossible with wood - depending upon the needs of the piece.
